Short version: CardLARP has no accounts and no ads, and the app has no analytics. Your cards and designs stay on your Mac. This website counts visits without cookies so we can see what works.
What stays on your Mac
- The original faces of your cards, the designs you add or favorite, and your design history are saved in your Mac's Application Support folder. They're never uploaded.
- To show your real cards, CardLARP reads card artwork from your iPhone and from your Mac's own Wallet, over your cable or Wi-Fi sync. This happens between your devices only.
- To notice when you open a restyled card in Wallet (and celebrate), CardLARP watches your iPhone's activity while it's connected. That's processed on your Mac and never sent anywhere.
What uses the internet
- The design gallery is loaded from cardart.cc, whose own privacy policy applies to that site.
- Update checks ask this website once a day whether a newer version exists. It's a plain file download. Like any web request it reaches our server with your IP address and the app's version, which we use only to count how many copies are in use that day; nothing else about you is sent.
- Donations, if you choose to make one, go through a third-party service with its own privacy policy.
This website
This site doesn't use cookies for tracking. To learn what's working, it records anonymous usage: pages viewed, the site that sent you, roughly where you are (country and city from your IP address), your device and browser type, how long the page was open, how far you scrolled, what you clicked and when the app is downloaded. Visitors are counted with a one-way hash of the IP address and browser that changes every day, so we can't recognise you across days and we never store the IP address itself. This data stays in our own Cloudflare account and isn't sold or shared. Cloudflare Web Analytics also measures page speed and visits without cookies. We also use PostHog to see how the page is used: anonymous session replays (mouse movement, clicks and scrolling, with anything typed hidden), heatmaps and site errors. PostHog keeps nothing in your browser after you leave the page; its privacy policy is at posthog.com/privacy. To opt out, turn on your browser's Do Not Track or block /t.js with any content blocker.
